"These are not books, lumps of lifeless paper, but minds alive on shelves. From each of them goes out its own voice…and just as the touch of a button on our set will fill the room with music, so by taking down one of these volumes and opening it, one can call into range that voice of a man far distant in time and space, and hear him speaking to us, mind to mind, heart to heart."

do you sometimes think about how things in life are connected?
back in december 2009, i made a consequential decision. for a number of reasons, i quit my erasmus internship at a socialdemoractic institution in london. i still vividly remember my feelings at this day: london was grey, london was wet, and i was feeling lost, small and vunerable. i was really afraid that my decision could have been wrong, that i wouldnt find a new or a better place and that all in all, this could be the biggest mistake ever.
only two days after, i managed to find a new potential internship place, had a job interview an hour later and voila, was given the job as an intern at the campaign office of a lib dem candidate for the british parliament.
i had a wonderful time at this office and never regret my decision. i even returned to their office for the final weeks of the campaign in may 2010.
as this time was so defining for me, back in berlin i decided to write my master’s thesis on the general election campaign. needless to say, i graduated with honours ;)
then i got two job offers in germany, both mostly because of my experiences in london. one at the HQ of a party and the other one at the parliamentary office of an MdB, same party. it wasnt easy to decide which offer was better, but in the end, i opted for the one at the HQ, thinking that there would be more possibilities to develop. although actually, i back then thought that the parliamentary one would have been the easier way for me.
so i started working at the HQ back in september 2010 and it turned out to be completely the right decision. also, three weeks after i started, one of political leaders took notice of my work. and he asked me if he could read my masters thesis. from this point on, i worked really closely for him.
now in december 2011, this person decided to resign.
the same day, he offered me a job at his parliamentary office. now guess what i did. of course i agreed.
isnt this strange? looking back, it all makes perfect sense.
